The focus of both Resources Centres (Collingwood and Wasaga Beach) is to assist and support each individual in gathering the necessary resources and developing personal skills and networks that will enable them to be a participating member of their home community through inclusion. Programs are carried out according to the individual’s needs and ability, in a relaxing, stimulating and pleasurable atmosphere.
The Collingwood Resource Centre is located at 250B Peel Street. The fully accessible building, is centrally located.
Support Workers may begin their day in the individual’s home or at the day program.
Depending on the person’s needs and interests, a schedule is developed incorporating inclusion into community facilities such as the local YMCA, Public Library or even a favourite coffee shop. With staff support and role modeling, individuals who want to explore the area of “Helping Others”, have the opportunity to volunteer their services at a local Library or nursing home.
Program participants who have entered their senior years are integrated into community senior groups where they enjoy a wide variety of activities of their choice.
