Direct Support Professional

We are looking for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team!
Position Overview
Direct Support Professionals are responsible for supporting individuals with varying behavioural and neurodivergent needs and/ or high medical need individuals. This role implements and encourage appropriate routines, behavioural programming, provides personal care support and promotes independence, self-regulation, and community engagement through trauma-informed and person-directed approaches.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide individualized person-directed support to people with diverse needs by implementing appropriate interventions, evidence-informed strategies, and tailored programming. In some cases this may include supporting medically fragile persons, including delegated controlled acts and medication administration
· Use lifts and mobility devices safely and appropriately
· Provide personal care, hygiene assistance, and support with ADLs
· Work collaboratively with health care teams, families, and peers
· Promote belonging through meaningful home and community participation
· Submit expenses via Concur and complete daily documentation
· Respond appropriately to behavioural escalations and crisis situations
· Participate in daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and laundry
· Administer medications as required
· Encourage involvement in meaningful community activities and relationships
· Collaborate with internal teams and external professionals (for example, behaviour therapists)
· Update daily notes using company software such as ShareVision
· Monitor email and other communications to ensure awareness
· Proactive problem solving
· Document daily support and progress per QAM and MCCSS guidelines
· Book and attend medical or other appointments, coordinate vehicle use
· Complete administrative tasks, including expenses (Concur) and notes
· Adhere to compliance under OHSA, AODA, and the Ontario Human Rights Code
What we are looking for
· Human Services diploma (DSW, SSW, PSW) or equivalent experience is an asset
· Demonstrated ability to support vulnerable individuals with compassion and respect
· Knowledge and understanding of best practices related to supporting individuals with varying behavioural and neurodivergent needs
· Knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience managing crisis situations
· Strong computer, time management, and communication skills
· Ability to navigate multiple, sometimes competing priorities
· Attention to detail, responsiveness, and ability to follow direction
· Ability to think critically and problem solve
· Willingness to contribute positively to workplace culture and team collaboration
· Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
· Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
· Physical ability to support individuals and use mechanical lifts as required

Experience:
- Working with persons with developmental disabilities: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (preferred)
- G Drivers Licence (preferred)
- Emergency First Aid with CPR and AED (preferred)
