Simcoe County was divided up into 61 neighbourhoods for the purposes of EDI analysis. Children are allocated to a neighbourhood according to their home postal code, not necessarily in the same neighbourhood in which they go to school. Many children, especially those in the separate or French boards travel some distance to go to school. and it is assumed that families most frequently access services in the preschool year closest to where they live. The Early Development Instrument is not about ranking schools or boards, but rather seeing children’s strengths and weakness geographically so that preschool and family services can be planned in the home communities of families. In this section you will find maps of Simcoe’s 61 neighbourhoods as well as the community profiles that outline the EDI scores of children in each neighbourhood.
