Families will be asked to fill out a registration form the first time they receive service. This may be requested at an initial visit to one of the sites listed above or at an outreach location.
Any adult caring for young children is eligible for EarlyON services and programs. Children ages birth to their 7th birthday are eligible for all services offered.
Several parent education workshops that involve adult-only learning or with an adult/child interactive focus (where there may be an age restriction), may periodically require pre-registration. Prior to the program start date, staff may make reminder phone calls to those registered informing them of the date and time the program will start.
Wait Times for Service
In general, the EarlyON Centres do not experience wait times for service. Stay, Play & Learn programs would only experience wait times if the occupancy for the physical space has been reached. Wait times for specific parent education workshops may be influenced by the following:
- size of physical space used for programs, either at a main site or in outreach
- childcare availability
- demand for specific programs
- staffing levels
- availability of outreach space
Staff will call back names on the waiting list once a vacancy becomes available.
In general, EarlyON programs and services are prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis. For Stay, Play & Learn, this is true up to the occupancy limit of the physical space. For parent education workshops, sign up sheets are posted and they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once full, families may add themselves to a waiting list. The following are considered in the space allotment process with a greater weighting being given to families with pressing needs:
- professional referrals indicating greater urgency
- preference may be given to new families who haven’t taken the training previously
