Childcare Centre Kitchen Coordinator/Cook
E3 Community Services Inc. is a multi-service agency offering a broad array of supports for children, and adults with developmental disabilities. The agency also provides programs to the broader community such as Day Care and EarlyON, as well as services such as ReUse Centre and Oasis by the Bay Vacation Suites.
Who are we looking for?
The Child Care Centre Kitchen Coordinator/Cook is responsible for menu planning, purchasing of groceries and supplies and daily preparation of nutritious meals and snacks. The kitchen is to be managed and the work of the Cook is to be conducted in strict compliance with Health Department, Child Care and Early Years Act and all other applicable legislation. The Cook works in consultation with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and its coordination with the routines of the Centre. Strict attention to detail must be maintained with children’s allergies, food intolerances and diets. As well, this position will be responsible for enhanced cleaning measures to ensure covid-19 protocols and procedures are met along with food handling standards. This position is Casual and will work on an as needed basis.
** This position has no interaction with children.
Ideally you will have the following:
- Secondary School Diploma
- Three years of experience in a kitchen
- Food Handler certificate
- Standard First Aid/CPR certificate
- Up to date Police and Vulnerable Sector Screen
- Driver’s license and access to own vehicle
- WHMIS training
- Yearly education in CCEYA standards
- French language proficiency would be an asset
Assets/Special Factors of the Position:
- Food safety training and SMDHU knowledge
- Meal planning and nutrition experience and training an asset
