Temporary Direct Support Professional – SIL (Internal)

E3 Community Services Inc. is a multi-service agency offering a broad array of supports for children, and adults with developmental disabilities. The agency also provides programs to the broader community such as Day Care and EarlyON, as well as services such as ReUse Centre and Oasis by the Bay Vacation Suites.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our Supported Independent Living Team. The SIL staff supports adults with developmental disabilities in living on their own or in shared accommodations outside of the family home to build community connections, coach and support activities of daily living based on the person’s goals and individual support plan. Supporting activities of daily living may include: grocery shopping and meal preparations, money management, overall household tasks, hygiene, self-care and clothing care to name a few. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate individual and agency records; act as a liaison between internal and external contacts; maintain current standing in required courses; keep up to date on agency information, policies and guidelines and maintain professionalism in all aspects of duties.

This is a temporary position lasting 63 weeks. This position will work 40 hours per week. There is a requirement to work varied hours and days during the week including evenings and weekends.  Shifts will include statutory holidays as needed.

What experience/education do you need?

Education and experience in Developmental Services or a related field would be an asset.   A Human Service Diploma (DSW, SSW) or equivalent is a preferred qualification, as are First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications, a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation.  Please note that training in First Aid/CPR and NCI will be provided to successful candidates should they not already have these certifications. French language proficiency (speaking and reading) would be an asset.
