Job Description:

Historically, opportunities to encourage people getting to know one another out in the community have been limited due to segregation and miseducation of lived experiences of people with disabilities and developmental needs.

E3 Community Services Inc. is a multi-service agency offering a broad array of supports for children, and adults with developmental disabilities. The agency also provides programs to the broader community such as Tots ‘n’ Tykes Child Care Centre and EarlyON, as well as services such as ReUse Centre and Oasis by the Bay Vacation Suites and operates in an area fortunate to have existing social opportunities and organizations with well-established and growing volunteer opportunities eager for collaboration.

The Volunteer Manager and Community Liaison will work with program teams and external collaborators in the development of E3’s integrated volunteer programming to enhance inclusive community engagement and belonging, centering the needs of people supported at E3.

As a key member of the Leadership team, the Volunteer Manager and Community Liaison will generate experiences through relationship-building.

What the job entails:

  • Recruit, interview, onboard and train volunteers and providing coaching and mentoring to both volunteers and staff to facilitate a positive volunteer experience for all
  • Build a network of volunteers through a personalized matching process, so people enhance their own expertise and interests supporting staff and people supported at E3.
  • identify opportunities and coordinate activities to enhance E3’s involvement in building inclusive communities in South Georgian Bay.
  • Collaborate, develop and enhance relationships with other volunteer agencies, organizations in our community, and other community partners

What experience, education, and skills do you need?

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in volunteer management (includes grassroots community initiatives and/or working within an organization), with preference for candidates with educational experience (diploma; related courses) in either volunteer management or related disciplines that foster an understanding of working with people.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering with children and adults with developmental disability preferred.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including, ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead and influence individuals and teams within a large organization and in the context of major change, toward a vision while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment and effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and welcoming environment that values each individual; respects their values, preferences and unique abilities; and mitigates against the experience of stigma
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing process improvement and delivering outstanding quality and results
  • Working knowledge of French would be appreciated but is not required.
  • Successful criminal background check with vulnerable sector search
  • The applicant must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position

Role Benefits and Compensation:

This is a full-time position is based in , working predominantly Monday – Friday. This includes flexible hours, which could include some evenings and weekends.
